Anthony “Tony” Dwayne Cooper, beloved husband, father
brother and grandfather passed peacefully away at home on
October 26, 2023 in Kilbourne, Ohio
at the age of 58 after a brave battle with cancer.
Born May 3, 1965 in Delaware, Ohio, Tony was a man known for
his strength, perseverance and love for family, friends and the outdoors.
Tony graduated from Rutherford B. Hayes High School and
Delaware County Joint Vocational School
with a certificate in Agricultural Mechanics class of 1985.
His love for working with his hands and being outdoors led him
to a career in the field.
He was employed with Ohio Valley Barn Salvage in Mt. Gilead, Ohio
as a field technician from 2006 until June 2023.
Prior to this he worked at RL .Smith Roofing, ASI Commercial Roofing
and also spent some time in the Landscaping Industry.
Tony was a man who loved all things in life. His passion
for the outdoors was evident in his work and hobbies.
He spent countless hours working in the yard, tending to his
roses and enjoying the tranquility nature provided.
Walt Whitman once said
“Keep your face always towards the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.”
This quote encapsulated Tonys’ approach to life.
Despite the challenges he faced, he always looked for the
positive and found joy in the simple things.
Preceded in death by his grandparents
Edwin and Vivian (Humphrey) Knowlton,
mother Dixie L. Mickens,
aunt Helen (Knowlton) George,
uncles Larry D. Knowlton Sr.,
Stanton “Sonny” Knowlton,
Joseph George and cousin Greg George
as well as his beloved fur babies Goliath, Sarge,
SissyGirl, Harley and Mira
Tony is survived by his wife Catherine (VanGundy) Cooper,
Sons Justin Pounds, Scott Anthony Cooper and Casey Douglas Cooper,
Stepdaughter Cassandra(Michael) Lindsay and stepsons Nathan and Troy.
Tonys’ memory will also be cherished by his brothers
Christopher Mickens and Joseph Paul (Peggy) Cooper and their families.
cousins Tracy (Tony) Timmons, Misty (Jason) Brady and Alaska (Nick Nangle) Brady
along with several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends and co-workers
who will remember him as a man of character, strength and love.
Tonys life was a testament to the power of perseverance, family, love and spending time in nature.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.
As we remember Tony, let us strive to keep our faces towards the sunshine just as he did.
