Alice Louise Johnson, 97, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on December 25th, 2021. She was born on August 28th, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Charles H. Frieze and Ethel Loraine Frieze. She was preceded in death by husband Homer Johnson and sons Lawrence (Larry) Johnson and William (Bill) Johnson. Alice worked at the Schottenstein’s Department Store in Columbus until her retirement. Alice was very crafty and taught herself sewing, upholstery and card making. In her free time, she volunteered at the Riverside Methodist Hospital sewing guild, making busy aprons for dementia patients. She also taught sewing and greeting card classes at the Gillie Community Center. She utilized her sewing skills to make all of her own clothes, as well as producing some for friends and family. In her retirement, she started making purses and traveled to craft shows to sell them. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening and maintaining her house plants, especially her favorite orchid. Alice was an avid baker and made the best spice cake and Christmas cookies. Alice was a mother to many. She raised her brothers and sister, nieces, nephews, sons, grandson, family friends and more. She treated everyone as a friend and welcomed anyone into her home to share a meal. A memorial service will be held Thursday the 6th at 4:00pm @ Christ Presbyterian Church, 4220 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, OH 43224. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church or The Gillie Community Center of Columbus. Alice embraced life with positivity and a smile. Even in difficult times, she would remain resilient as her response to adversity was to take everything in stride and press forward without compliant. To this she would always say: “Life just is, what it is”.
