Seth Allen Young died at Crown Pointe Care Center in Columbus, under the care of Bella Care Hospice, on July 1, 2022, at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Lois Rosow; daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel Dorrian, Patrick Dorrian, Deborah Young, and Jay Morgan; granddaughters, Cadence Dorrian and Naia Morgan; and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Meryl Silver. Seth was born in New York City, where he graduated from Stuyvesant High School. After his undergraduate years at Antioch College, his first career was as an electronics engineer, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Bell Aerospace, and Rockwell International. In that role he obtained a patent for an aerospace feedback control system. (He liked to joke that he was a “rocket scientist.”) In his late 30s Seth went back to school, earning his MS and PhD degrees in Preventive Medicine from the Ohio State University and his MBA from Xavier University. His final career was as an epidemiologist for the State of Ohio Department of Health. Seth was an avid gardener and an avid volunteer. He served on the Antioch volunteer fire squad, the board of directors for the Oak Creek Gymnastics Association, and the Antioch Alumni Board; he was a union representative (SEIU); and he served as an usher, both at the Palace Theater and at Ohio State University football games. During the last dozen years of his life, as his illness progressed and his memory failed, his world shrank, but occasional sparks of the old Seth shone through, and for that his family is grateful.
