Marynell Cleary

MaryNell Cecilia Cleary passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 18th, 2023. She was born in that state up North on May 28, 1942 to parents, Patrick Joseph Cleary Jr. and Ruth Mae (Ware) Cleary. MaryNell was a diehard Buckeye fan! After the family returned to Columbus, she attended high school at St. Mary’s in German Village and went on to graduate from high school in 1961 at Mount St Clair Academy in Clinton, IA.

Mary Nell was the second child of twelve. She always cared for us younger siblings like we were her own children, even from the many places around the country that she called home. She lived in Prudhoe Bay, AK working for the pipeline; Galveston, TX; San Diego, CA; Rio Rancho, NM; but her favorite location was Colorado Springs, CO. She brought her Buckeye spirit to each and every home and office she had throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by our parents, two sisters, Sr. Kathleen Cleary and Charla Jean Cleary, our brother in law, Robert Holmes and her fur-babies, Jackson, Isaac and Emmy. Mary Nell is survived by siblings; Marjorie Holmes, Patrick J (Christine) Cleary III, Teresa Margiotti, Shelia (Gary) Saxton, Ruth Ann (Thomas) Marsh, Philip John (Jill) Cleary, Anthony (Joyce) Cleary, Molly Cleary and Lucretia Foster. She also has a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who she showered with love and gifts, just as she did her siblings. We will forever remember MaryNell’s giant smile, sassy wit, the smell of Jean Nate cologne, ice cream binges, her sayings like “I’ll buy if you fly”, “thank you for your smile” and “God is good”. She was part of the first troublemakers in the family, right in the middle of KC and Marjorie, trying to talk them out of mischief. But her joy and love for the Lord never wavered.
